Jeannie * Exported from MasterCook Mac * Palouse Soup Mix Recipe By : Serving Size : 10 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Beans Quick and Easy Soups and Stews Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 1/2 cup green split peas -- (16 oz. pkg.) 2 1/2 cup lentils -- (16 oz. pkg.) 2 1/2 cup pearl barley -- (16 oz. pkg.) 2 cups alphabet macaroni -- (8 oz. pkg.) OR use brown rice 1 cup dried onion flakes 1/2 cup celery flakes -- (3/8-oz. pkg.) 1/2 cup parsley flakes OPTIONAL 1 1/2 teaspoons thyme 1 1/2 teaspoons white pepper 1 1/2 teaspoons sage Mix all ingredients together. Vacuum seal or store in jars. Stir before using. Makes 10 cups of mix. TO COOK: Combine 1 cup of soup mix with 4 cup of water or seasoned stock in large pan. Add 1-2 cups of tofu or seasoned baked tofu, if desired. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cover pan. Simmer gently for 45 to 60 minutes, or until peas are tender.
