Guest guest Posted February 26, 2002 Report Share Posted February 26, 2002 * Exported from MasterCook * Hot and Sour Stir Fried Celery ~V Recipe By :EVERYDAY CHINESE COOKING by Leeann Chin and Katie Chin Serving Size : 2 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 8 celery stalks 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 teaspoons minced garlic 1/2 teaspoon salt 4 teaspoons white vinegar 2 teaspoons sugar 1 teaspoon light soy sauce -- see comment 2 teaspoons sesame oil 1 hot red chili pepper -- seeded, thinly sliced 1. Remove and discard the leaves of the celery and the stringy stalks. Cut the stalks into 2x1/4-inch slices (diagonal). 2. Heat a wok or skillet over high heat. Add the oil, garlic, celery and salt and stir fry for 1 minute. Turn the heat down to medium and stir fry an additional 2 minutes. 3. Combine the vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil. Add to the wok along with the chile pepper and stir fry over high heat for 1 more minute. Remove and serve hot or cold.
