Guest guest
this sounds like I'll have to try it, but later, we're now in the midst of a snow storm- * Exported from MasterCook * Barbecued Rutabaga Steak Recipe By :Karen Hubert Allison Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 medium rutatabaga -- or 1 large, peeled and cut into 1/2- to 3/4-inch rounds 1 large red onion -- peeled and sliced vertically into thick rounds so the core holds layers together 2 cups barbecue sauce Serves 4 to 6. Barbecue sauce is good on anything, but try it on a large, thick, round slice -of rutabaga and I think you'll be very happy. Serve it alongside red onions barbecued in the same sauce, and you will be even happier. Either tomato or mango barbecue sauce will work for this dish. Lay the rutabaga slices flat in a steamer basket, cover, and steam over boiling water just long enough for them to heat through, so that the surface may be pierced with a fork but the center of a slice offers resistance. In a shallow bowl or pan, cover the hot rutabaga and the onion slices with barbecue sauce. Marinate for 1 hour. Prepare a charcoal fire or preheat a gas-fired grill. Place the rutabaga steaks and onion rounds on an oiled rack and grill on both sides just long enough to cook through.
