Guest guest
Leah: Good for you! A friend of mine had a heart attack and had CPR performed on him for 20 minutes. He is now doing the Dean Ornish program and loves it. During the program he was told only 10% of people who admit or accept to having had a heart attack will even try to make some lifestyle changes. Please have patience and compassion for them and avoid spending time with them when possible as their diet is their very being (or so they think) and whining about there condition is often their favorite past-time. On another note - I had my best ever interaction with a gentleman at a store the other day. When he started telling me about his experience with Crohn's disease, drugs and surgeries I closed my eyes and meditated. I expected to feel his pain but all I felt was peace and relaxation. If he is at peace with his condition and journey I guess I should be too. I guess he is on the best path for him and I am on the best for me. PS I did tell him about Paul Nison, Fred Bisci and Matt Monarch and he just gave me a puzzled look. I said you are on sickness management and these gentleman are doing real health care. He actually heard what I said and thought about it. He was buying two half gallon jars of mayonaise and all I had was avocados, lettuce and kale. He said he works for a government agency tha pays reasonably well in town here and 3/4 of the people their are 100 lbs or more overweight. Have your best day ever! Guest guest
Hi Bill, For some of those that know me, they have probably heard this story before, but maybe some of the new ones would like to hear it. Anyway when I was having a stress test done about 12 years ago, the head cardiologist was conducting it and he was about to start an Ornish program in the hospital. It was a project program funded by the Insurance companies and some of the large business companies here in our city. You would have laughed to hear the comments between the cardiologist and the nurse. To him it was just a " big joke " that anything like Ornishes ideas would work, but felt he'd better get with the program if he would be teaching it to others. Well I'll tell you after one year Dr. Ornish came here and all the twelve people involved in this project got up and gave testimonies. What an inspiring group that was. Needless to say the hospital adapted all of Dr. Ornishes program and still today is using it. The " doubtful " cardiologist that thought it was such a waste of time, lost a bunch of wieght, started giving seminars where ever people would listen, got his own radio station, wrote cookbooks and eventually got his own show called the Cooking Cardiologist. We lost him to Colorado Springs, but I can tell you he became a believer. Encourage your friend to stay with the program. It's not a 100% raw vegan diet by any means, but it's so much better than the SAD and will reverse clogged arteries without taking dangerous medications. I tried to encourage my Dad to try it when he had heart problems, but he wouldn't even read Dr. Ornishes book. Sadly he died ten years ago. I tried to work with my husband too, but he ended up having open heart surgery with a quadruble by-pass 3.5 years ago. Bless all those whose minds are not closed and will listen to truth. Sharon In our hearts we plan our day, but it is God who determines our steps. Proverbs 16:9 Good for you! A friend of mine had a heart attack and had CPR performed on him for 20 minutes.
