Guest guest
I'm new to this and have read Dr. Norman Walker's Book " Becoming Younger " and have just started reading " Hooked on Raw " by Rhio. So what's the best way to start? I was raised on German and Hungarian food with lots of meat, cheese, sausage etc. Is there a basic list of what food is considered " raw " and what is not? Are there any raw foods that are " hot " or " warmed " - like soup - I can't imagine eating soup cold at this point. Anyway - just wondering what is the best/easiest way to start or at least gradually ease into this. Also - one thing I've noticed is a lot of things (fruit, seeds etc) that I have never heard of - can someone point me to where I might find out what these are and what they are used for (substitutes for flour or other things etc) Thanks - Jacky
Guest guest
Hi, Jacky, and welcome. Obviously (or maybe not so obviously) a raw vegan doesn't eat any animal products. Some do use honey but that's an animal product, too. Anything in the produce department is raw, though some things aren't very digestible if they aren't cooked. Those things are the cruciferous veggies, artichokes, potatoes, etc., etc. If you go to rawfood/message/22606 and read that post, you will find it lists many of the foods that are considered raw. As for soups, if you are using a highspeed blender, you can warm them a little just by processing them longer. If you heat anything until it's hot, it's no longer raw. I'll let someone else answer the rest of your post because I don't use anything that's a substitute for flour.
