Guest guest
Okay so I soaked my cashews for almost 24 hours. They were nice and soft. Tried to make a chocolate cream cheesecake with them. I added the nuts and 2 avocados to the food processor and let it go and go and go......and the darned nuts STILL stayed grainy! I added the carob and some ground cocoa nibs, raw honey and a banana, hoping it would all smooth out. Nope. So I took the whole mess and dumped it in the blender and let it blend. STILL grainy. Where is this nice fluffy cashew stuff I keep reading about? I sure can't seem to make it. On top of that, my dehydrator, the Excaliber I JUST got two days ago stopped working. I am fuming here. It worked sporadically yesterday. I used the manual to troubleshot the problem, which was FAN but NO heat!!! Banged on the back like it said while turnig nob. Got it to work yesterday. This morning I tapped on that thing for ten minutes while turning the nob. NOT a hint of heat. So I emailed the company ( I ordered it through Amazon )and am awaiting their reply. I requested a full refund and payment of return postage. What a crappy day. Donna Anne
Guest guest
Donna Anne, I don't know if it has anything to do with anything but I've never soaked my raw cashews. When I blend them in the L'equip, they come out really smooth and creamy. I always use the blender with them no matter what I'm making. Sorry about your dehydrator. That's a bummer. Guest guest
When my Excalibur went, I just called Excalibur direct -- 916-381-4254. And I didn't buy my dehydrator directly from them. Didn't matter, they sent me a new thermostat and I put it in no problem. Sounds like you didn't have enough liquid to make your cashews creamy. I've found you can't always follow the recipes exactly in the raw food world. A little fresh water would have made things a little fluffier and smoother. I usually add dates and I soak them prior to use and save the soak water. Do not use the soak water from the cashews, however. Shari
Guest guest
There was something else I wondered about the cashews. If they weren't really raw, they might not have broken up well...Just a thought.
