Guest guest
Hi everyone, OK were to i begin.. hmmm.. well I have been interested in a raw food diet for over a year now, i knew someone (over the net) you said that she went raw and changed her life, I keep thinking im going raw then after a fews hours (seriously) i panick and just eat more and more junk food, im wouldnt say im overweight, my height is in propotion to my weight, apart from a little belly (all those crisps and chocoloate lol) Anyways what to be honest i want to go raw generally because i have bad acne and have heard this can treat it and make your skin clearer, the next question i want to ask may seem controversial but you all seem like a really cool helpful bunch so here goes... .....basically if going raw is there a possibility of my skin going lighter, i ask this question because i when i was younger i had light skin and it made me feel good about myself, now its dark and dull and it doesnt appeal to me, i mean most people love getting a tan, so why all the commotion if someone wants to get lighter, i mean its what suits you right?! I know a girl african american who was quite dark and had abit of acne, she went raw and over the months her acne cleared and she was taking glutathoine pills (known for having a skin whitening effect) and basically she lightened alot and now can pass for a mixed race/puerto rican girl.. so is this possible? i mean i have seen pictures but just hope its for everyone, also my hair is kinda dry and big, so thats needs to be sorted.. I lack energy and im only 19..so can i benefit from the raw food diet? also what other benefits am i able to recieve with this diet. I would appreciate your help! also should i start raw 100% or slowly incorporate it, i mean i eat meat and everything now, so is it wise to give it up all at once? also i was told milk can break you out, i stopped and it worked, then i was a bowl of cereal recently, next morning woke up with a big red dot on my forehead..lol.. So what do you guys think? would really appreciate your help!
Guest guest
Whatever, Congratulations on your decision to go raw. I personally feel that it is best to do it gradually unless you are dealing with a serious health issue. This will keep you from beating yourself up for having cooked foods when you feel the need or desire...as long as you stick with healthy cooked foods. I am not 100% raw, but most of the time when I cook it's black beans or some brown basmati rice...I'm not cooking a roast or frying potatoes or anything like that. Also, it's very important to realize why you are doing this. Why have you decided to make such a drastic change in your life? What benefits to you expect to see? Are those benefits realistic? How immediate do you expect it to be? If it takes longer are you willing to go through the wait? Are the benefits that you are expecting based on achieving optimum health and wellness (no disease, more energy, etc.), are are they basically for outward appearance (weight, skin, etc.) Either reason is your reason and no one can say whether that reason is right or wrong, but I think that if you are choosing the latter option, then you really should realize that there is so much more to this and it is VERY important that you be prepared mentally and spiritually for the changes that you will go through. Do your research. Understand that it's not a quick fix for anything. It took years to build up these toxins in your body, and it will take a little time to break them down as well. There is someone right now on another board who is ready to quit the raw life because her acne has not cleared up. And yes, that can be frustrating and it's understandable to be disappointed. But this is where knowledge comes in. First, it is HIGHLY likely that your face will get worse before it gets better because of the elimination of toxins...and maybe not, I'm not a pro, but that's generally how it seems to happen. Secondly, when your body is detoxing, there can be some emotional highs and lows that you might have to dig deep to get through, and returning to cooked/junk food when these times hit puts you right back at square 1 each and every time...only with a little more toxins to deal with. I know...I've done it as well. Just be clear about your reasoning, and work on preparing yourself as much as possible with the TRUTH about raw life and ALL that it entails...not just the end results that someone has acheived, but what they went through to get there. It's a very interesting and enlightening journey and it's well worth every day and every hour of the wait and uncertainty. Regarding the other issues, I am a black woman and I was lighter as a youngster than I am now. However, I think that's just life. The sun kisses us and we bronze like beautiful statues! What are you gonna do?!!! :-) I'm brown, I'm beautiful, and I cherish myself. That's what's important. My brother is Michael Jordan's complexion and when we was born you could almost see straight through him he was so light...every vein was showing poor thing! But he is where it was intended for him to be as an adult, and he is beautiful as well. Love yourself young lady. You have a long way to go in this life...especially if you go raw! Don't get hung up on skin tones, eye colors, and other things that have nothing to do with the substance of a woman...be she brown, black, white, yellow or red. You are who you are. Celebrate that every day, and others will celebrate with you. If you spend time picking yourself apart, it shows in your attitude and confidence or lack thereof. You want to attract people, show them how wonderful you are! It's there, you just need to see it for yourself. Now, on another note regarding complexion, if someone who is of African American descent has severe acne, it can definitely give the impression of a darker complexion. Severe toxin overload can do this as well. Therefore, you just might see some change once you have purified yourself, but it's not going to be anything beyond the color that you are supposed to be. And that's not the color that you were born with, its the color that you are now...only without acne, facial blemishes and dark spots. So you might look a little lighter depending on the current condition of your skin. But none of that matters anyway, because I already told you that you're beautiful! :-) You take care of yourself young lady, and I'm always here for you if you have questions, need to talk, want to rage, or whatever. I'm by no means what I would consider a raw expert, and there seem to be plenty here, but I am a woman and I know what it's like to be 19 and searching and trying to bloom through concrete. Thank you for trusting us enough to share yourself in that way. Your concerns, fears, joys, and insecurities are held close to our hearts. And we support you 100%.
