Guest guest
Question for the more seasoned raw foodist here, I have noticed on two occasions (since going raw) my skin turning a red flush. To the point that on my arms and face I look like I have been out in the sun... but I haven't. The first time it happened, I noticed it happened not long after eating 4 fried cheese sticks from Burger King. The second time was this afternoon. I had a SMALL slice of apple pie, then on a trip to the ladies room I noticed the intense red coloring of my face and arms again. Is it possible that I have a food allergy that I never knew about? Or is this one of the changes like taste buds that will change naturally on the raw diet. I am not really alarmed, but thought it was a bit, hugh, weird. Kindest Regards, Leah Messenger with Voice. I would hazard a guess that you have a sensitivity to something -- most likely sugar (although I don't know how much sugar you are adding into your food. I do know that the foods you mentioned have good amounts of sugar. Margaret
Guest guest
I used to get that skin flush about mid afternoon right after lunch when I was working.. I have not had this happen since going raw. Although I am not 100% as I'd like to be this way of life sure has corrected this part of me. It could have been a major elevation of my sugars now that I have looked into it. as I used to get this also if I ate SAD. Especially alot of sweets or breads... While I worked, I was not eating properly... and when I did eat it would be high processed carbs type of things.. then about an hour later I would have this awfull flush and heat flash. I felt weak, hot, sometimes dizzy. When going to a doctor to find out why I did this..he informed me I was really close to being diabetic. That this rush or flush was a high elevation in my sugars. He suggested to elliminate sugars and any processed foods and white flours. After a few years of research.. I have found also I need to eat often. I found this out during my quest and had found the " body building " way of eating.. every two hours.. or so... When I started this way of eating I no longer had the flush... but I felt I was eating too much of the wrong foods.. Enter Raw foods.. I had come across it somehow. I do not remember how.. but since going raw I still need to eat often but now I find I need certain types of foods to not have the flush.. So I have lots of greens with cucumbers and tomatoes and add a table spoon of coconut oil in my smoothies. I also find I am more sensative to some foods then before. Are you writting down what you are eating? Look back over the list of foods and see what you have eaten about an hour or 30 minutes before the " flush " If this has happened after eating SAD food..which it sounds as if it did... it is your body telling you that that kind of food is not good for you.. the bad fats and flour in the coatings and buns are reacting badly.. raising your sugars... Does this happen while eating raw? Was it enough food for your body.. Should you add something for that time period of the day like a fat of some kind.. nuts, coconut oil or something? Could be even though you are eating raw... you either are not eating enough or you are requiring something...as your body might have changed. If this has happened after eating SAD food.. it is your body telling you that that kind of food is not good for you.. the bad fats and flour in the coatings and buns are reacting badly.. raising your sugars... Just my thoughts ..such as they are...
