Smoothies in a Food Processor

I was travelling abroad and tried to use a food processor to make

smoothies. It didn't work so well-just kind of spun round and round

horizontally, rather than vetically up the sides, then down into the

blades for more thorough blending like it does in the blender. I ended

up with a mixture that was fairly textured yet, maybe a little like a

coarse apple sauce consistency. I understand that some people like it

that way, but I am used to the super smoothie produced by my K-Tec and

didn't care for it. I felt like eating it with a spoon rather than

drinking it. Maybe some Food Processors do it better, but you have to

take into consideration that the liquid level has to be low enough so

it doesn't leak out under the blades.

I have only had a food processor my whole 2 years of living foods. I do love to

go over to my friends homes and play with their vita-mixes or K-tech's!! I

figured out that if I don't add much liquid to the smoothie at first, and just

let the blades break down the solid food first I could end up with a much

smoother mixture. Sometimes even as silky as custard. Then I add the liquids

last.
