I went to OA not because I was overweight but to try and figure out why I used to " gobble " my food as though I had not eaten for a week. I left the meeting with a new look on food... (short meeting experience) One woman, surely 100-lbs overweight came to the meeting in tears, would not talk as to why she was crying but said she'd " share " at the meeting. When she raised her hand to share, the room went quiet and when talking through gasps of sobs and tears she went on to say that she " ... I come home from work, unplug my phone, and lock myselfinto my bedroom with a 1/2 gallon of ice cream and go on to masterbate my mouth with the ice cream.... (bursts into tears) and I WISH I could find a doctor who would cut my taste buds out.... BECAUSE MY TASTE BUDS ARE GOING TO KILL ME! " Well, it still takes my breath to recall the chill that that woman left on me, I don't know her name, nor would I recognize her face but she has left me with the gift (at times) to ask myself, when I see or " hear " (see above post) about mouth watering foods if it's my stomach that sends the craving or is it my " taste buds " that sent that craving. " BECAUSE MY TASTE BUDS ARE GOING TO KILL ME! " Anyway, lets pray that the woman who sent that is still alive. Guest guest
Wow...I had been thinking the same after I sent that through, that maybe I should have stayed silent because if anyone else likes them the way I do, it might trigger the taste memory... and I do hope for that lady's sake that she's been able to get a handle on her eating!
