Guest guest
Just a thought: Hi! I am Margaret! I am basically a busy lurker! I am busy building files for this list (I may have mentioned this before) Having worked with many lists on many topics before, I have seen all sorts of ways that people reference what they are talking about. I would like to suggest that, when we reference the topic we are mentioning, we reference the topic, as opposed to the name of the person who first posted. This is, of course, beyond being a logical idea, a selfish request. I am in the process of organizing the information that has appeared on this list since 1998, and creating files and dateabases for the use of current and future list members, and it is a heck of a lot easier to find related messages when they reference what they are talking about in the subject line. For example, if someone named Susie asks about black beans, the most efficient subject line would be " black beans " , as opposed to " Susie " . Although this may seem picayune, if you consider that future list members might attempt a search of the list for " black beans " , anything with a message line of " Re: Susie " would likely be missed in the search. Some day, I will finish my work on this list, i.e., I will work my way through what I expect will have been approximately 2500 messages, and I will get tired and move on. Whether or not anyone takes up my job, people will still come to the list, and some savvy people will try to search the list. Furthermore, you, yourself, might suddenly want to know about something that was discussed two years ago. If the subject lines reference the actual subject, rather than the person who wanted to know, the information will be available. Otherwise, it might be lost among thousands of other messages. Consider, please, taking a moment to make a discriptive subject line. Thank you. Margaret find related messages when they reference
Guest guest
Hi, Margaret, Thanks for all your hard work. I hadn't really thought about the people who might be searching for topics (though I do that myself). I will try my best to comply for later generations of raw foodists (and those who aspire to be).
