Blending raw foods

I notice that many of you blend your raw fruits and veggies a lot.

Can I ask why? Is it because you like the taste? Easier to eat and

digest?

I have never put my raw veggies in the blender, but I do juice them to

have to drink in between meals. It is amazing how that keeps me from

getting hungry.

I am thinking that I may be missing out on something by not blending my

veggies. I was thinking that blended veggies would be a great " trail "

food so to speak. Like when I am out for a day of shopping, I could

just put some in a cooler and have it for lunch in the truck, so as not

to be tempted into grabbing something at the fast food joints. It

would also give me more time to shop. I don't go shopping very often,

so when I go, I need a lot of time.

Hi Belinda:

I blend or food process my foods for several reasons.

I started processing my vegetables in a food processor back in the 70s

after I read a cool book on eating raw foods (Live Foods - Nature's

Perfect System of Human Nutrition, by George and Doris Fathman). I

was into the idea of raw foods, but I was L-A-Z-Y about chewing, so I

processed the vegetables into bits and made " salads " , or other things

that I read about in the book.

When I was 12, my family went to a Virginia State Fair, and I saw a

VitaMix (aha! VitaMix has been around for 40 years at least!) I

wanted my mom to get one. About 5 years ago, I did! I love

pulverizing fruit and vegetables in it for juices, or sauces, or whatever.

I am sort of chewing challenged at the moment, so small bits are a

whole lot easier to manage.

The total fact of the matter, in my case, is that I am lazy, but I

like food that tastes good.

If all food were as easy to eat as pudding, I might get fat.

It happens that I am afraid of sugar and flour, so I need other ways

to have soft food.

That is why I blend or process my food.

I hope this answers your question in some satisfactory way.
