Guest guest
Okay, I am jumping in on this conversation, but I am guessing it is about regular exercise: I, personally, am rather mobility-restricted. Running is a no. Walking is a no (and I have to violate that, because I live in New York City, where cars are a what?) I do yoga. I started doing yoga at a yoga school. I had to quit for a while for financial reasons, so I got a video. I did yoga with the video, but often I found reasons not to. What helped me find my way to doing the video and (ultimately) finding the funds to pay for the classes at school, was a friend I met on the Internet, who, in the course of many conversations, told me that yoga was the only way (after she had broken her back) that she could keep herself mobile! I have had serious back injuries, knee injuries, and neck injuries (as the result of sports mishaps and auto accidents). I have been told that I would be in a wheelchair within a year (that was in 1998). When I go to yoga, I can't do everything, but... each time, I can do something, and ... sometimes.. I can do something new! I like hot yoga (bikram) because I *always* know what is next, and I can compare what I did yesterday with what I did today. Other yogas change from day to day. I like vinyasa yoga, for the movement, but I get frustrated sometimes because I can't do what they are doing. I usually stick with the beginner classes because I can " modify " the positions. I really like my videos (when I am willing to do them at home), because they will always have the same positions every day, and I can compare my progress from day to day. The extreme heat also is a safegaurd for me in the fact that it loosens me up and helps prevents injury. -- Bill Schoolcraft <> http://wiliweld.com " If your life was full of nothing but sunshine, you would just be a desert.
