Guest guest
I do not know about the total blender. It seems like a good machine. I disagree with the webpage process of elimination. I would certainly go for a machine with 7 years of waranty rather then a 3 year machine. It tells you something about what the mfg company thinks its product will last. Afterall, if I want to compete, and believe that my machines will last for 10 years would you not put that kind of warranty of or at least give 7 years. When I married my wife she had the old vitamix and had been using it for 25 years. The variable speed knob was broken off so w used a tool. Well, we bought a new one vitamix 5000. Bought it at costco. They have these guys coming in about every 3 months (i think) phone costco and they tell you when these guys will show up. They demo the machine and give you a huge discount. I think we got it for 40% off. So my advise is to continue with your blender and buy it at costco. By the way we lateron bought the extra dry attachment and it indeed works better in grinding flax seed etc although the other container also does a good job. Guest guest
I have a question about the vita mix: Does it clean up easy? Will it replace the need for a food processor? Can it handle doughy type recipies? I make a raw chocalte cookie and I make it in my processor, would a vita mix handle it? Will it make smoothies? The reason I ask is I have a COLLECTION of appliances on my counter and it drives me nuts, I live in a condo and have very little kitchen space so I am looking to tidy things up a bit! Thanks! When I married my wife she had the old vitamix and had been using it for 25 years. and buy it at costco. Guest guest
The vita-mix cleans up great. Add a little wwater and a drop of soap to the carafe and turn on for a moment and it is clean. It makes great smoothies and soups. I have a food processor so I just use it for anything that I would need processed. I have seen a vita-mix demo for using it as a processor and it make great chunky salsa. Heather I have a question about the vita mix: Does it clean up easy? Will it replace the need for a food processor? Can it handle doughy type recipies? I make a raw chocalte cookie and I make it in my processor, would a vita mix handle it? Will it make smoothies? Guest guest
I can answer these questions:-) To clean the vita mix, you rinse it, put in 5 cups of hat water and two drops of dish soap and run it on high for a minute and a half. Then rinse the soap away:-) It *can* replace a food processor in respect to an " s " blade's usage, but not with respect to the disk. The dry blades would probably do you well - that's a 2nd container that is optional - but it's for grinding flour and kneading bread dough. YES - it will most definitely make smoothies!!! It makes wonderful ones:-) Debra Lee Thompson First Horizon Home Loan Corp Audit Analyst 214.441.5416 debrathompson rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of Sherry Wednesday, February 22, 2006 4:30 PM rawfood Re: Re: [Raw Food] Re: Blender I have a question about the vita mix: Does it clean up easy?
