Guest guest
Beth, I just joined something called Raw FoodBoot Camp, where you make a committment to stay raw for 30 days, then 60 days, then 100 days...etc. I joined just after Christmas. I had lost about 15 pounds previous to this, over a 2 month period. Anyway, since joining, (and adding the 15 pounds I had already lost), I have lost a total of 50 pounds, 35 of it in the last 5 weeks. on raw food. You don't need nuts and seeds as much as you may think. They don't have all that much protein, and have lots of fat. You can make green smoothies....60% fruit of your choice, and 40% greens...spinach, kale, lettuces, these are delicious, and a good way to get more greens in your diet. sprouts, ounce for ounce, have more protein in them than steak, and they are complete proteins. you can put sprouts in salads and in raw soups. (you can heat broth, not to boiling, but comfortable for your finger to test warmth, then pour over chopped veggies...very satisfying) I too have to cook for a family. It is sometimes very frustrating, that they can have all that ooey gooy SAD food, but I'd rather be thin and healthy, than sick and overweight! windflower jan elizabeth roberts <mamabethnc wrote: Hello! My name is Beth. I am 30 years old, about 40-50lbs overweight (5'5 " and 187lbs). I've been interested in a raw vegan diet for a couple of years now, but I can't seem to make it more than a couple of days without giving in to something cooked or processed as my family is not " on board " with me. My children, however, will eat tons of fruit if I have enough in the house, it's mainly the days when my military husband is home that things go out the window. I just picked up a couple books from Books A Million to read more ( " Rawsome! " , and " The Raw Food Detox Diet " and Carol Alt's " Eating in the Raw " ) and I have the eBooks from Storm and Jinjee Talifiero from TheGardenDiet.com. I'm serious this time about transitioning. I have really been paying attention lately to how I feel when I eat cooked or processed foods and it's really hit me how awful I feel when I do. I am just not certain if I should get started now, or wait until I have finished healing from some upcoming extractions (I've lost all but six teeth in my mouth thanks to bad teeth since birth) and/or I get my dentures made (as I can't eat nuts or seeds right now). Previous to this, I made do with SlimFasts and Campbell's SoupsAtHand, mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes and oatmeal while I healed. I just don't know what I can do this time around to make sure that I'm not going to go crazy making my own stuff. While I want to lose weight, I don't want to starve to do it, you know? So I worry that just throwing some fruit in a blender isn't going to be enough for me. Anyway, I thought I'd chime in and say hello!
