Guest guest
Thank you to the poster who felt that getting a newer vita-mix was probably a better deal than ebay. That does make sense....I will get a re-conditioned or Costco model then! Yeah, the Champion juicers are a pain to clean! They are work horses though. I use the meat grinder to put dried dates and ground up walnuts to make raw apple pie. (YUM!) It comes out like hamburger---you squish it all together and its the crust for your pie. Then you put a huge pile of grated apples on top with cinnamon and lemon juice. The lemon helps it not to turn so brown, but the cinnamon also makes it brown. Sprinkle the ground up walnuts on top (I use a coffee grinder). Its best to let it set for a few hours, to meld the flavors. Its REALLY sweet though. Get a few sour apples too! In the 70's I worked at a Health resort as a cook, called Meadowlark in Hemet, CA. Its by Palm Springs. It was one of their recipies. I used to put home made yougurt on it to cut the sweetness, depending on what kind of apples we had on hand. Another thing we made was their version of muesli. We soaked oatmeal in pineapple juice over night so the enzymes would digest the oatmeal. Then in the morning, we added grated apples and ground up nuts and any other thing that was fresh as far as fruit goes that we wanted. They said at the time (this was 1975 remember) that canned pineapple juice was ok, for some reason they didn't think the enzymes were destroyed by putting it in a can, unlike other juice. Anyway, back to the champion...At that time I had a raw food cookbook and it had these wonderful recipies in it. I lost it! But you could put dates and other dried fruits thru the meat grinder of the champion with various nuts, and the different combos tasted like different flavored carmels. I guess I should just try out different ones and make my own little book all over again. Some had carob powders---I remember that too. It was a yellow book with green writing on the cover, paperback...if anyone knows which book that is, I want another one! They also had salads with tons of seaweeds. I wish I had that book, I forgot what they soaked the seaweeds in! Does anyone know about this? I love seaweed, I feel very grounded eating it. I almost got rid of my champion, last year I decided I needed to control my blood sugar and thought juice was not good for you. I am glad I am going back to eating the way I did almost 30 years ago. Full circle! Weird how life is like that! I just got my book Eating for Beauty from Amazon yesterday! I LOVE this book! All the kirlian photography. We did that at the health resort, it was fun. I put my finger in this thing and they had me think different kinds of thoughts, and you could see the change in energy patterns. They told me for example to say I am mad, and I wasn't feeling mad, just say it. And all this crooked red energy came out of my finger! LIttle lightening bolts of red. Then they said pretend your bf needs a massage. And all this nice glowing energy was in there! I had a hard time bringing it back in though, which they said I needed to control, other wise I would get drained giving all my energy away. Useful little tool, that kirilian! We used to photograph all kinds of stuff....different vitamins for example to see which ones were the best. Wachters was a good one. They glowed at least 3X more than the best health food vitamin supplements we could find. I wonder if that company is still around? Be careful if you have the Champion to use that stick/pusher and not your hands. This sounds obvious, but a friend at work used her finger and it shredded it! Dumb!
