Guest guest
OK. I am new to the raw food experience. Right now i am trying for 75% raw. How did you raw food purists transition from the SAD? I crave bread so terribly. It doesn't help, that I am the only one in the family eating this way. I have been a vegetarian since 1972, and my husband's family thinks this is absurd. They usually serve fish when we eat there, and we eventually get to the arguement, that " fish isn't meat " because Catholics couldn't eat meat on Friday, but they could eat fish. Also, my husband eats bread, meat and potatoes almost exclusively. (they say opposites attract) Sometimes, I just crave bread, and preparing his meals sometimes breaks my willpower. Bread and Butter are my downfall. Any advice? jan Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs. Try it free.
Guest guest
Jan, I agree that grains are the most addictive foods of all, and had the same experience with bread and butter. I actually gave up grains quite a while before I went raw, and that was quite a transition. But it might have made the transition from cooked to raw easier for me. You might look at what works best for you during transitions. If you're the type of person who likes to do things cold turkey, just drop all grains at once. If you prefer gradual transitions, then get rid of one type of grain at a time. Obviously wheat would be the big one in our culture, but you could also break wheat up into segments -- pasta, bread, cakes/cookies, or white flour vs. whole grain to ease the transition. If your mind needs convincing about grains, get a copy of Doug Graham's booklet, Grain Damage. Good luck! Steve
