Hello all:

I have enjoyed the lively debate about sodium chloride or table salt. Nice

to see people discuss opinions without attacking each other.

I heard Dr. Doug Graham speak on table salt at the Living Now festival 2004

in upstate NY. It was an hour long talk so very well planned, detailed and he

spoke the entire time with out one note. Very impressive.

What I remember is that it was a very well thought out talk and would be hard

for most people to listen to as it challenged many of our societies basic

beliefs. I had been in the raw food for 5 years so I was more open to hear him

then I have been when I have heard him speak before.

If you are interested I recommend taking the time to go hear him speak for

yourself or get a video or audio tape of him.

It would not be fair to try to condense his powerful speech into a few

sentences but I do remember three points that have been discuss;

1. He did say he considered table salt a poison.

2. He did say sodium and chloride ions were needed for human health.

3. He recommended eating celery and other vegetables for sodium, chloride and

other minerals

Two observationI I have made

1. (when I am not consuming table salt) is that some times celery tastes

very salty to me - distasteful and I stop eating it then. Other times it tastes

mild and I can eat a whole plant or two.

2. When I am not eating table salt and cooked foods I sweat about 1/100 to

1/10th of what I did when I was eating a " Healthy American " diet of cooked food.
