Guest guest
Hi Faith! welcome to the list! comments/suggestions below within *** ***** > HI! I'm slowly getting into Raw; I've been vegetarian since '86. I want to do BETTER! ***congrats on your excellent choice! An optimal dietary will greatly assist you on your journey to vibrant Health!*** > A few questions, please: > 1) When I would previously try going Raw, after a while it became PAINFUL to brush my teeth! ***would depend upon what you were doing at the time; Raw foods, per se won't cause this. Suggest brushing gently, at an angle at the gum line, with a very soft brush.*** > 2)Can I use raw foods to detox my body? If so, please elaborate? ***The body, given the correct ingredients for health, of which food is one, knows how to take care of itself perfectly: it already orchestrates/coordinates about 100 trillion cells everyday. As far as " detox " , frequently, when given a better dietary to work from, some good fresh air, pure steam distilled water, some sunshine and some exercise, some rest and sleep, the body will go about cleaning up its house: in that process, as the body has rebuilt its vital energy, it will frequently muster up its extra reserves, and clean house more vigorously, leading to the terminilogy of " detox " . Probably better described, this is just the body cleansing itself. Just as when we clean house, sometimes we may " stir up some dust " . So it is with the body, only its dust shows up as " symptoms " : ranging from runny nose, colds, coughing, sneezing, diarrhea, vomiting, etc..etc.. The symptoms can be mild to strong. And the body will continue to cycle through cleasing and building, as it rebuilds itself. These symptoms of the body's housecleaning are frequently referred to as " acute " disease - which is ok, and it's just the body taking care of itself. And we have zero control over what the body decides to clean, which " part " of the house, and which route it may take for some extraordinary expulsions. Does it go out the back door, the colon? does it go out the front door, the mouth/lungs? does it decide to go out a window? maybe ears, eyes.... or does the body just punch a new hole somewhere, and eject a bunch of stuff? pus, ulcers, etc? A fundamental principle here is how we react to such " acute " disease symptoms - if we interfere, and/or attempt, in any way to " suppress " such symptoms, the body will stop all housecleaning activity, and now proceed to deal with whatever new toxin/poison we have thrown at it! These toxins/poisons can range from herbs, to colonics, to aspirin, to any other OTC drugs, all of the NSAIDs (non-steroid inflammatory drugs) - ibuprofen, Advil, etc..etc., any prescription drug - every single one of them poisonous to the body. In short, anything that we ingest that is not either pure air, pure water, sunshine or food as described above, is a POISON! What makes it look like any of these poisons are " working " is that they are so toxic to our bodies, that when ingested, the body stops all other work, and works on eliminating these poisons as quickly as it can. Sometimes, it doesn't have the vital energy to get rid of all of it quickly, and will " store " it somewhere in the body for later expulsion. This sets up the base, and the beginning of, many chronic diseases. Many/most chronic diseases originate from the suppression of " actute " disease. All allopathic (read: drugging) medicine is targeted at the palliation of symptoms - make the sympotms go away. Drugs have no power to heal anything! only the body can. Health can only be obtained by Healthy Living. nothing else : that's it... No, as asked, you cannot use raw foods to detox your body. Raw Foods, per se, and in and of themselves, do nothing other than supply the body with raw materials. The body acts upon anything we ingest, not the other way around. The body decides if and when it has the vital energy to clean its house.*** > 3)What's the proper raw foods diet? ***an optimal dietary is described as " whole, raw, fresh, ripe, organic or better, fruits, vegys, and a few nuts and seeds... " properly combined, and targeted at a calonutrient ratio of 80/10/10. 80% minimum carbohydrate, with the high majority from fruits, 10% maximum protein, and 10% maximum from fat. If we eat like this, we can really accelerate the supplying of optimal raw materials to our bodies. *** Instinct? ***actually, that would be perfect if we were at all in tune with our own instinct: we're generally not - we're completely brainwashed by the large agribusinesses who have taken over not just " food " production, but nutritional education also. Almost all other species in the world eat their optimal diets instinctively, other than man.*** I prefer fruit over veggies! ***you're in luck then! suggest setting up a " base " of a couple of sweet fruits, such as bananas and fresh dates. (see the rawschool files section for date sources..) fill in around this with seasonal fruits, like melons, citrus fruits, beries, whatever is in season, and then finish off the day with a large, lettuce based salad, with some tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, and maybe a few nuts and seeds. Recommend getting the vast majority of your calories, body-fuel, from fruits. otherwise, you'll end up getting it from fats, (in nuts/seeds/avocadoes)which doesn't work. also, vegys only doesn't work, since we can't get enough calories to exist frm vegys alone.*** Can you recommend books for this? ***yes, also over at 's rawschool board, you'll find a file called Reading Resources ( many are free..and most can be found at either the library, or Amazon used books) right here: http://health.RawschoolReading%20Resources/ come on over; I help moderate over there...site is owned by Nora Lenz, a 7+ yr. rawfooder. She also runs her own website... Hope this wasn't too long!*** > Thank You! ***you're most welcome, and good luck with the journey. all the best, Bob Farrell Personal Health Creation Coach***
