Also, if you did not go ALL the way to excellent vision, near and far, in various lighting levels, etc., then you could ONLY backslide. This is much like eating 50% raw -- once you go all the way, then the benefits are of an entirely different nature. Elchanan ___ Elchanan, are you meaning I can't relearn to see on my own, from just reading the book and practicing the habits. That I need to attend classes? Lois _______ Well, actually I DO know of a couple of people, but they really dug deeply into Bates' work, at the level I would expect from a practitioner rather than a user. Also, it depends upon your vision. But the essence of good eyesight is relaxation of the orbital muscles. When I worked with someone, she would look at my eyes as I did various exercises, and I was absolutely amazed at the degree to which I was squinting/straining, when I had no idea it was so. The feedback was central to the work, at least as I experienced it. OTOH, don't let anything I say hold you back, please!!! I was coming off a massive eye injury, you are working in the realm of " normal " or " typical " vision problems (I assume). I do know that until the relaxation becomes ingrained, the results of the exercises are only temporary. Of course, one option is to continue the exercises indefinitely, on a scaled-back basis. I'm really far outside my " area of expertise " here. I hope this helps. Elchanan PS let me know where you are if you do want to connect with someone, in a few places I know of some good people in this area
