Vegynut pate analysis

A RawFooder had recently asked about how to put a vegynut pate, that

they'd purchased, and didn't really know " exactly " what was in it,

into Nutridiary.

Brakceted text is the " meat " of how I responded:

[Had another thought on this: if you know the approx. quantity, we

could use this recipe

From : http://veggietable.allinfo-about.com/recipes/pate.html

Ingredients o 4 T olive oil

o 8 oz tempeh, crumbled

o 1 c onion, chopped

o 1 stalk celery, chopped

o 1 clove garlic, minced

o 8 oz mushrooms, sliced or chopped

o ½ c walnuts, chopped

o 2 T soy sauce

o 2 T red wine

And just put that into Nutridiay as a " meal " –

This recipe yields about 2.5 cups..if it was a " dollop " – we could

call that a 1/16 or a 1/32 of a cup, or 1/40 or 1/80 of the

recipe….or multiply the total of the recipe

By .025, or by .0125. It was probably at least 1/16 of a cup's

worth; that's be about ½ an ounce, or about ½ of a shot glass

size..if it seemed closer to a shot glass size, it was about an

ounce….probably more like an ounce now that I think about it. And

that would be 1/8 of a cup, or 1/20 of the recipe, or multiply by .05

It won't be " exact " – and all we're looking for is an order of

magnitude here..

You could substitute sesame seeds for the walnuts..

I may go create this later, and if I do, I'll let you know.

Decided to just do it…lol!

It would be about 1423 cal, multiplied by whatever factor for size.

Let's just call it an ounce, and use the factor of .05..we'd then

get 71 calories, with a breakdown of

14% C, 15% P , 71% Fat. (note that I left the wine out of the

Nutridiary recipe…) I think the important/interesting thing to note

is that even this small amount of vegynut pate would add about 50

calories of Fat to the diet.

I've attached a " picture " of what this would look like in Nutridiary…

I haven't seen anyway to export results out of Nurtidiary.]

Note that I am " not " recommending this recipe, just including this as

a means of how to create/analyze something like this.

I've put this and the Nutridiary " pic " in the files section (on

RawSchool) also.

all the best,

Bob
