Guest guest
Hi Lane! good to hear from you, and I think you've brought up a good point. From this board's home page I see the following: [stop cooking your foods! Increasing the RAW FOOD in your diet can greatly improve your health! Food ENZYMES are important to your health. Let's share info, tips, sources, url's, recipes and personal experiences with eating more RAW FOOD. This group is here to support people wanting to learn how to eat a Healthy Raw Food Diet. Just because something is raw doesn't necessarily mean it is the best thing for us. This group supports a Vegan Raw Food Diet. Please don't come here trying to promote other diets. This is a friendly group of people. We welcome debate, but do it without name calling and anger in the posts. Negative posts and posters will be banned. You are also welcome to share your experiences with NATURAL HYGIENE. Animals in the wild live according to their instinct and the laws of nature. They live their lives without getting cancer, heart disease, stroke and the other diseases of so-called " civilization. " No animal in the wild takes supplements. They just eat the foods they are biologically adapted to. Natural Hygiene is a study of nature and of health. So come and share your experiences of nature in action. We can also discuss the writings of authors in the raw food movement including Dr. Herbert Shelton, Dr. Douglas Graham, David Wolfe, Dr. Gabriel Cousens and so on.] Specifically, I notice that the emphasis is upon sharing vs. exploring, with sharing/share being mentioned 3 times, and discussing being mentioned once. Natural Hygiene and nature are themes. I think that one of the things that has happened here is that, from a group perspective, that a " unspoken " norm has been that, if we're posting here, that it's " OK " for others to respond/comment/add on to/and, in rare cases, " correct " . For example, if someone posts a recipe and it inclues " garlic " in it, I think anyone should be A-OK in pointing out that " garlic " is not in alignment with Natural Hygiene principles, and then state why. That, to me, fits well within the scope of the board. (here's a quick aside: I've personally found from studying, reading, NH materials, that the scope is broad, and if not studied/read specifially, these principles/concepts are *NOT* taught in school. There are many principles, which, if followed, all appear to improve Health.) I think a way around this might be, if we post something, and we're not either " open " or soliciting any feedback, might be to say something like " info only - no feedback desired. " To me, that would be very clear. And, btw, I think, as a group, some agreement on what we want the " norm " around this to be would be great. The only real downside I see to a " no feedback " norm unless requested, is that " falsehoods " within a board sharing about Natural Hygiene may slip in; like the garlic example. If nothing is said, then all might think that garlic is within Natural Hygiene guidelines/princliples, which it cl;early is not. I've posted about it before, and for me personally, I'm very interested in improving both my own health, and the health of others. I do not have to personally experience every possible wrong turn on the road. I prefer/like/solicit/welcome comments from others who may have already travelled this part of the road. If I'm driving down the road, and thinking about veering left, and someone tells me that just after the turn, the bridge is out, and the cliff comes up quickly, I'd like to know that *before* I take that turn. I'm also very interested in coversations/concepts around optimal and excellent. Yes, I'm delighted with the RawFood lifestyle and where I am at the moment. Is my Health better today than before I adopted both the RawFood lifestyle and other steps, yes! Is my Health " optimal " - I don't think so...lots of room for improvement. I'm also very interested, always, in what's on the road ahead: what things/choices/decisions might lead to more " optimal " --- and there's the tricky part for me....who will know that? someone who's standing on the road right next to me? maybe.. or someone who has walked down the road previously, has guided others through the RawFood Forest successfully? Say, for instance, that Dr. Herbert Shelton was posting on here about fasting. ok...he's supervised more than 40,000 people fasting, and been acknowledged as the " pillar " of the Natural Hygiene movement. would I be very interested in what he had to say about fasting, and any " coaching " he might offer? you betcha! (and, yes, I know he's deceased) or, if Dr. Doug Graham were posting about athletic performance, as a 25+ yr. rawfooder, and someone who has coached worldclass athletes, would I be interested in what he said to say about what he has found that works: yes... I think we can *all* learn something from each other, and for me, what helps is to know " where " the other person both is, and is coming from. that's probably enough of this for now.. Btw, my " vote " is that our group NORM (no..no...no..not the guy in the bar on Cheers! lol! not Cliffy or Sam either) is that feedback/comments/suggestions/even " corrections " are all ok, unless stated otherwise. all the best, Bob rawfood , " lane lynn " <lanie@p...> wrote: > Another 2 cents from Lane: I vote for letting people speak freely, in their own way, and giving advice only when it is asked for. For me it's very unpleasant to post about some happy experience and have someone come back and correct what I did or how I did it. On the other hand there are times when I would like advice, and , like many here, post to the group asking for thoughts and feedback. At this time, the advice is welcome. This used to be a community of folks exploring together. Now sometimes it feels like pupils and experts. I notice a lot of the old people don't seem to post any more and there are a few who post all the time...........Where have those folks gone? Is there another group somewhere? Thankyou, Lane ]
