Re: [Rawschool] Dates (WAS: not bananas over bananas)

I really appreciate this one!,, I always felt " bad " eating dates and

organic raisins ect. now i can't see the logic behind it , so what that

" some " water is gone....i can fill up that with another peice of watermelon!

lol!..Basicly you are getting all the calories minerals ect.. in a nice

form ..i believe , thats what the ancients did.. they deied the summer

fruit for the winter , the hunzas with apricots ..

Hi Yehoshua,

Thanks.

I would distinguish between dates, which are a food unto themselves -- they

grow on date trees -- raisins, which really are a dehydrated food, made from

grapes. Most raisins are significantly more dehydrated than I would

recommend, other than as an occasional snack for those who just plain love

raisins.

I have noticed that certain farmers dry their raisins far less than most, at

least in my area, when I have a chance to taste at a farmers market. So

when, upon infrequent occasion, I do buy some raisins, I try and connect

with those farmers. Just a thought.

Best to all,

Elchanan
