Guest guest
Hello all! With all of the recent posts about blood sugar/fats, etc., I was reminded of a stop on my recent journey. Just before I'd gone Raw last September, (and just typing that I've noticed how close I'm getting to a one year anniversary!) I'd been on the Zone program. (which I don't recommend: Doug Graham's 80/10/10 works a whole lot better for me) and when I'd switched to Raw I had a leftover from the program: I was taking pharmaceutical grade fish oil (cost on a " auto-order " basis of $72/mo., plus shipping, for about 8 oz, as I recall...) I was taking this at least 2x/day, at a minimum of 1TBLS each. I was taking it in place of the NSAIDS (non-stereoid, anti- inflammatoray drugs), like Advil, Ibuprofen, etc..etc. These all, the drugs, the fish oil, etc. were for " pain " in my legs, knees, back...sometimes so bad after I'd played tennis, that I couldn't even stand up straight. Then one day I had this " EUREKA! " - you know, I've changed my diet in a big way, and I'm still taking this fish oil (which was before my use of Nutridiary). I wonder if I still really need it? sooo. with much nervousness, I stopped taking the fish oil, and substituted it with the following: based upon Dr. Doug Graham's book(let), I think, I started eating a large, high sweet fruit meal within 1-2 hours after completing the workout. What a difference this made! almost no more pain of any kind, (yes, I still have some " stiffness " , which I attribute to not enough stretching after working out...) This coupled with Doug's magic RF " Gatorade " concoction of bananas and celery (basically a very watered down smoothie) have made almost unbelievable differences in how I feel, both while I'm playing and afterwards. My stamina (which I can now measure in HOURS vs. minutes before!) while I'm playing is much higher, and my recovery afterwards is much quicker. (now MINUTES vs. hours before!) And after I'd eliminated the fish oil, cancelled the autoship, saved >$70/month, I thought some more about it, and realized the amount of " extra " fat I'd been consuming, both before and after tennis. WHOA! long way from ideal...and that's another milepost on the journey. I now consider RF a vital investment in my health, and I can buy a *LOT* of bananas for that $70/month! all the best, Bob
