Guest guest
I picked up with some of my birthday money a 'bread rising basket' by Brotform. You let the dough rise in it and then bake. DH almost had a coniption when he saw the $43 price tag, but it is a new kitchen gadget and I just had to have it. Does anyone have any experience with these? It says 'Crunchy Crust, Great texture, Ribbed, floury decor, Better rise, Irrestible aroma, Herr Struden says 'we are using natural cane that's hand woven following a century old tradition.' Oh, someday soon I'll be crabbing about the cold weather. But then I'll be able to bake some bread and try this out. Its too hot to bake here. You just can't please some people, right? Guest guest
The bakery I used to work for used those for a lot of their loaves, most of their " artisan " breads, and, I don't know if it was a rising basket or what, but those were my favorite loaves by far; great flavor, great crust and a nice texture and shape. Its a very traditional baking technique. Hope it works well for you! Check out King Arthur flour's website for more cool baking gadgets; I get their catalogue and I would buy everything in there if I could! ~Rachael
