Hi Donna,

I know that eating and making good food choices is harder when one lives

alone and has to stay within a budget (even on those days that you do feel like

eating). In addition to this group and the recipe files, you might also check

out the following website for your iron or other nutritional needs.

http://www.vegsoc.org/info/iron.html

As far as cooking goes, maybe you can find an interesting sounding recipe

that includes summer garden veggies (perhaps, you have a farmer's market in your

community)...either make something (on a good day) and freeze it in smaller

portions, invite a friend for dinner or take a portion to a neighbor. V-8

juice is an easy way to get a serving of vegetables into your body (and you can

sip on it, while at the computer...smiles).

Needless to say, if you don't get adequate nutrition in your body, you will

become weaker and sick.

The friends you will meet here are great supports. Good luck in making

healthy food choices, too.

yes, and ground flax seeds are a good source. I have a small

inexpensive coffee grinder, an I use that to grind up the seeds. I sprinkle some

ground flax seed in everything I can, like in soups, sauces, etc. People say it

has a nutty taste but I cannot detect it in sauces or soups.

Re: Bi-Polar and Anemia

Hi Donna

I googled " vegetarian sources of omega-3 " and came up with this link

http://www.vegsoc.org/info/omega3.html

This indicates that flax seed oil is also a good source of Omega-3

and explains a bit more about it.
