Guest guest Posted July 25, 2006 Report Share Posted July 25, 2006 Green Beans Served With Italian Tomato Sauce 1 can Tomatoes, broken up (8 oz. can) sliced green beans OR 1 pkg (10 oz.) frozen (partially thawed) 2 c. fresh sliced green beans Pepper, to taste Salt -OR- garlic salt to taste 1/4 tsp. Dried oregano -OR- Italian seasoning 1 onion, finely chopped 1/4 c. water 3/4 c. tomato juice Combine all ingredients except green beans. Cover and simmer 15 minutes; uncover last few minutes and allow to simmer until sauce is thick. Meanwhile, wash and tip fresh green beans (allow frozen beans to defrost partially). Arrange beans on rack over simmering water; cover and steam 4 to 5 minutes. To serve, spoon tomato sauce over hot steamed green beans immediately before serving.
