Here you go:

One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small. And the ones that

mother gives you dont do anything at all. Go ask Alice, when shes ten feet tall.

my head, you REALLY need a nutritionist who has experience in medical diets and

is pro vegetarian. The second thing that hits (ok, third, because you and I have

really similar histories), is that I am willing to bet your body is so toxic

from all the meds that it is making things worse. Yeah, like I am telling you

something you don't already know.

So, to address what I can. Yes, you can make 2 dinners, just make either his or

yours way ahead of time and freeze, toss in the microwave and Bob's your uncle.

(Actually Bob was my father but...)

Yeah, pain in the neck (and isn't that fun), but you need nutrition and it

doesn't sound like there is anyone around there that is going to do it for you.

Can you have seeds (sesame, sunflower, pepita?) or nuts (peanuts, almonds, etc)

What are you doing for protein? (I use whey protein shakes for much of mine

since I only have a 20 cc pouch not a stomach.)

Do they have you on a good vitamin and mineral supplement or have they just

thrown prescriptions at you and basically said " Pay at the window, next patient

please. " As a person who was in clinical malnutrition with protein deficiency,

vitamin deficiency, etc, because my docs gave me the meds and no idea on how to

eat, after reading your e-mail I suspected it wouldn't be long before you were

nutritionally deficient.

I hope someone on the list can help you out. Best thing I can do is be

supportive and warm hugs and help in kitchen/cooking logistics.

Veggies good. Pain BAD. Hugs, Jeanne in Georgia (lacto-ovo veggie for a bit over

20 years)

you like pain) all meat, poultry, seafood, all beans (including soy

beans from which most veggie burgers are made), all peas, mushrooms,

asparagus, spinach, cauliflower and any other food that has purines

in it or that basically has any taste. That leaves um, let's

see . . . lettuce and not much else (slight exaggeration, of

course) It is complicated, because the diabetic diet seems to be

diametrically opposed to the gout diet. I can't be a real

vegetarian because I can't/shouldn't eat some of the foods that you

substitute for meat. I am also clinically positive for Lupus as

well as have degenerate joint disease all through my spine. It was

thought that I also had pernicious anemia, but it has been

determined that it is an absorption problem and not actually

pernicious anemia. I guess that's a good thing.

I found a recipe for burgers that I want to try that uses ground up

veggies, but my husband won't eat the way I should and I am NOT

cooking two meals every night!

For anyone who may not know, the gout diet says 50%+ of your diet

should be carbs, but I have to count/limit those for the diabetes.

Gout says avoid whole grains and diabetes say avoid white flour.

I told Chanda that I joke and say I am on a medication diet because

I take 19 pills a day, not counting pain meds. I've not found much

that addresses these two medical issues at the same time so any

ideas/suggestions that anyone has will be appreciated.

What a drag it is getting old

Kids are different today,

I hear evry mother say

Mother needs something today to calm her down

And though shes not really ill

Theres a little yellow pill

She goes running for the shelter of a mothers little helper

And it helps her on her way, gets her through her busy day

Things are different today,

I hear evry mother say

Cooking fresh food for a husbands just a drag

So she buys an instant cake and she burns her frozen steak

And goes running for the shelter of a mothers little helper

And two help her on her way, get her through her busy day

Doctor please, some more of these

Outside the door, she took four more

What a drag it is getting old

Men just arent the same today

I hear evry mother say

They just dont appreciate that you get tired

Theyre so hard to satisfy, you can tranquilize your mind

So go running for the shelter of a mothers little helper

And four help you through the night, help to minimize your plight

Doctor please, some more of these

Outside the door, she took four more

What a drag it is getting old

Lifes just much too hard today,

I hear evry mother say

The pusuit of happiness just seems a bore

And if you take more of those, you will get an overdose

No more running for the shelter of a mothers little helper

They just helped you on your way, through your busy dying day
