Guest guest
ok, as 1/2 of a professional landscape design/build firm, I have to step in on the watering issue. Over watering and under watering produce the same result/response in the plant. The only way to know for sure it to MONITOR YOUR SOIL MOISTURE. Take a trowel or shovel and stick it in the ground near the drip line or closer. Check the soil. Is it wringing wet? Dry and crumbly? Compare this to the needs of the plant. Do not ever ever ever rely on a watering irrigation system to water your woody stem plants. They water for the benefit of lawn, which only roots 2 " or so. Woody stem plants go much deeper, how much deeper depends on the plant in question. Generally, when you water, you want to put a trickle line on the plant for a couple hours, to allow the water to soak in and nourish the roots. Ok, off the plant soapbox now.
