Guest guest
You can get a salt mill, it works just like a pepper mill and hold over your food and grind the salt. You won't need a mortar and pestle this way, much easier with the mill. I have never used any other brand but the Celtic sea salt called Flower of the Ocean so I'm not sure how this other brand will taste. I would give it a try, you will know immediately when you sprinkle a small amount over a steamed potato, etc. You can find the Flower of the Sea for a good prince on the Internet. Want be to look for some links? Donna Paula <paulakward wrote: I read the posts about Celtic Sea salt recently and checked it out when I went to the store. There was some called " Original Brand Celtic Sea Salt " . 2 kinds offered. Both were 1 lb bags. One, the light grey color coarse sized crystals were about $6. The other was lighter in color and called " fine ground " or something like that, and it was $12 for the same weight?????. This leads me to believe that the fine grind is somehow much more desirable, and that if I bought the darker colored larger salt, that it might not be so easy to grind here in my own little kitchen with a mortar and pestle. Also offered was some advertised as " ancient " sea salt mined somewhere in Utah that boasted of multiple minerals. Your thoughts? Which should I buy? Guest guest
Thanks Donna, Never knew such a thing as a salt mill existed. Will look for it. I'll also check out your brand on the internet. Being a salt freak, I'm really happy to know that there are healthy salts! Another thing I've learned from these groups! Guest guest
Plus you will be surprised how little salt you need with this one. Use it at the end of cooking. Wait until you taste potato salad made with it. I salt everything myself. I put it in oatmeal, on all my fruit. I have extremely low blood pressure so I'm not the least bit worried about it. You will find the salt mill in a cooking store. I actually found a lovely one for $12.00 at a kitchen and linen store. The little blades are stainless steel, try not to get one with plastic blades, they wear out fast. Have fun! Guest guest
Hello, I found Emporia brand gourmet fine sea salt at the Dollar Tree for $1.00 (750g) imported from Canada. It works for me (my sister always uses the grey sea salt sold by the Grain and Salt society). Doesn't most salt come from the sea?
