You SHOULD use White peppercorns for this... I didn't, but the original

recipe called for it. This is very good on ice cream!

 

Preserved Figs

 

Ingredients

 

1 bottle Pinot Noir

 

a cup of honey

 

1 TBS peppercorns + 1 TBS

 

1 TBS cloves

 

2 cinnamon sticks

 

2.5 lbs figs or as much as you can sliced in half

 

 

 

Reduce wine and spices in a non-reactive pan for 30-40 minutes. Remove the

spices. Add figs and the second TBS peppercorns. Cook for 5-10 minutes. You can

use already dried figs to make this, just cook it longer.
