Guest guest
The discussion about jalapenos brings up a question...when a recipe calls for " fresh green chilies " ...what is that anyway?? What kind of pepper should be used? I'm in East Texas and don't see anything in the grocery store marked " chili " or " chilie " . The recipe I'm stumped on is an Indian recipe which calls for garam masala, green chilies, chicken, (or in my case, tofu), almond and cashew pastes, etc. It sounds wonderful, but don't know what to buy for the pepper. Thanks Jeanne
Guest guest
Jeanne, Green chilis are usually in cans marked " green chilis " in the food aisles with Mexican food. You asked about fresh green chilis though. Those are Anaheim or new Mexico chilis. See this link: http://food.oregonstate.edu/v/chile.html They are fairly mild.
