Guest guest
Robyn has some good guidelines on food combining in her post. I would like to add a couple of things and expand it to food guidelines. There is a saying that goes " Eat melons alone or leave them alone. " All these food go through the digestive tract at differnet rates including different types of melons so it is best to eat cantalopes at one meal and watermelon at another meal. If you do eat all different foods at once then it is best to eat the lighter ones like fruits first and the heavier ones laterbut there are exceptions Sometimes certain foods can act to help digest other food, especially after a big meal. An apple after a large meal may help digestion. * Divide the stomach into 3 parts - one part food (about the size of your fist), one part water and one part air. * Wait at least 2 hours after a meal to eat again and best to wait 4 hours. * Eat with the daylight. Eat between dawn and dusk. Since the sun is highest at noon, the digestive fire should be highest and this should be the largest meal. * Don't eat late at night. It is best not to eat after 4-6PM. Awhile ago, there was a discussion on weight calories. Calories are a huge reason for weight gain. However, if people eat late, the food does not digest and it turns into toxins and fat. * Drink water lukewarm or warmer. Cold things make the digestive system work harder. People with allergies may be specially aware since cold things are harder to digest. Something like ice cream at night is deadly for allergy sufferers and gaining weight. The combination of cold, fat and sugar and protein are a recipe for undigested food promoting mucous. * EAt with the seasons. Eat lighter foods in summer and in season foods. Basically you only eat fruit on an empty stomach, and eat vegetables with dairy, or vegetables with grains/starch, or vegetables with flesh, but not all together. Really it's just a sensible diet rich in fruits, vegetables and grains, but with a gimmick. HOWEVER, one of the things they said in the book was how fast food takes to move from the stomach, thus not putrifying. According to them fruit leaves the stomach within an hour. Well, I went on an airplane ride 3 hours after consuming only fruit, got air sick, and threw up my strawberries and kiwis, so that argument holds no water in my book.
