Guest guest
I've had my worms almost 2 years now but I'm no expert. It seems to me the books and literature make it seem smoother and faster from trimmings & paper to castings & tea. These are really low maintenance pets I put the food sort of in a clump under a layer of shredded paper; the books said that would reduce fruit flies but I still get some in the summer. They seem pretty durable too - I tried to drown all my worms this winter (left the bin out in the rain and forgot about it. Went to check and found it FULL of water! Poor worms!) but after I drained the bin and added a bunch of fresh dry paper, they've recovered and made me some nice dirt for spring anyway so I guess they don't hold grudges either I highly recommed Mary Appelhof's book, also there's a called OrganicHomesteadingandGardening and I know there are some worm people in there. Friendly helpful group, great files. Say hi to the worms from me Peace, Diane , cd trader <realshows wrote: > > >They don't hang out on the surface much - are you > >using shredded paper or ? > > > I'm using a mix of shredded newspaper and spring > leaves.
