Guest guest
This question of the week comes from Jenni. [thanks Jenni*s*] QOTW: What are some of yur favorite & most used kitchen gadgets ? Tell us how you use them. Conversely, what are the worst kitchen gadgets you've had and why? Also, post any helpful hints... maybe a homemade gadget or other kitchen use you discovered for a common object. ~ pt ~ Put it before them briefly so they will read it, clearly so they will appreciate it, picturesquely so they will remember it and, above all, accurately so they will be guided by its light. ~ Joseph Pulitzer

Tell us how you use them. My favorite gadget is the knife. It helps me chop, mince, dice, slice and cut things up. Amazing. Hand blender thingy. One of the best kitchen gadgets invented. I use it to thicken soups and stews by placing it in the pot and pureeing a bit in one pocket of the soup or stew. Just zip a few times. I've done that in many things. It's an easy way to make refried beans after the beans have cooked long enough. Just hand blend it. I also use it all the time in mashed potatoes over the Thanksgiving and Xmas. After the potatoes have boiled, add in cream, butter, garlic, cheese or whatever else you want and hand blend. I also use the hand blender along with the canister that came with it to zip up a vegan cheese mixture before it heads into the microwave. The canister works well for grinding whole pepper corns and dried peppers. Pampered Chef 2 cup wet/dry measurerment doohickey. It has every measurement on it. It tells you how many teaspoons/tablespoons are in cup measurements and so forth. You can see through it so you can see where the liquid or dry substance meets the measurement markers. This is much better than dealing with several measurement cups and you wash less items in the end. Salad spinner-uh-muhbob. I've had two. This one kicks the other ones tail. It is big and sturdy. The basket comes out. So I can fill it with any produce and soak then lift the basket out to drain. I make salads all of the time so as a spinner it rocks as well. Conversely, what are the worst kitchen gadgets you've > had and why? I can list a ton of Pampered Chep crapola. Oil sprayer pump. Gets clogged easily. This modern small measurment scoop that slides back and forth for different measurments. It's crap and hard to clean. There are others but I'll spare you. lol. S.
