Guest guest
Geez Pat, that is terrible that your husband does that especially infront of your son. You know, my sister, her husband and their two lovely daughters are all ovo/lacto but her husband is VERY picky... " I don't like this,I don't like that " . Well, who started picking it up?The girls. My sis and her husband are both special ed teachers and one of the psychologists that they deal with told him that that was a really bad thing to do infront of the girls. He is getting better and so are the girls....my poor sister! I guess that we all have to deal with these " meatheads! " Gets discouraging though huh? Stef Patty <cavy123 wrote: My big problem around here is that my husband cannot stand the smell of most of my vegan meals. He hates the smell of TVP, and any of the convenience soy products (Boca, Gardenburger--with the exception of the riblets, etc). One night last week, I had used our microwave to heat up some refried beans, and it had been covered, so there was not splattering on the inside of the microwave or anything....but when my husband wanted to nuke his frozen french bread pizza right afterwards, he turned to our son and said, " Let's go downstairs and use the microwave under the bar. I don't want my food being stunk up by Mommy's food " . Grrrrrr..... Now my son has started to act like my husband, and when we sit down to lunch during the day, he scoots away or moves to another area to eat, saying the smell of my food will make his food taste bad. I told him to stop listening to his Father. LOL! :-D Pat :-D Argue not with dragons, for thou art crunchy and go well with brie. Guest guest
Thanks Stef! :-D Yes, it does get discouraging. When I saw my doctor a few weeks ago for my regular blood pressure check, I told her about my vegan diet, and the first question she asked was, " Do you get support at home? " , and I was honest with her and told her that my husband loves that I'm getting healthier, but he hates the smell of the food and he cringes and shivers with disgust when I ask if he wants to taste any of it. She said I need to get more support than that or I'll probably end up failing. Wow...how awful is that? So now I'm on this list, and I search out vegetarian cooking classes or information classes at our local Whole Foods market, and I'm hoping my husband will come around. LOL! :-D I'm working on my son, though. I've already told my husband that I'm substituting some of my son's fattening foods with healthier versions without telling him, and he hasn't complained once! He used to have spaghetti and sauce with loads of parmesean, but I've chaned it to whole wheat pasta with marinara and soy parmesean, and he hasn't noticed the difference! :-D I've made a few other changes. Amazingly, my husband is supportive of me changing our son's diet for the better, although he still can't stand what I eat. :-D It's not going to stop me, though. I'm even more determined now. Tomorrow will be officially a month for me of eating vegan, and I love how I feel. I've lost 19 pounds (down to 285 from 304), and I've lost several inches as well in my body measurements. And to think that I've done all of this while eating such delicious foods! Truly amazing. :-D Could you pass along the recipe that pumpkin recipe with homemade rolls that you made the other night? It sounded absolutely delicious. Pat :-D FareChase: Search multiple travel sites in one click. http://farechase.
