Guest guest
Hi Pat. So great to read you are having a much easier time being vegetarian now. i am also living in a mixed household. My daughter is pesca-pollo [basically just abstaines from red meat], my son and husband are omnivore, and i am lacto-ovo vegetarian. Sometimes meals are a challenge, but some of the meat analogs you mentioned have also helped us. i like for everyone to be able to sit down to dinner together, even if we have different things on our plates. You mentioned so many items! Breakfast sausages: Yes, i like those, too. Breaded Cutlets by Gardenburger: These are wonderful! i like to have mine with garlic mashed potatoes and some sort of yummy steamed green veggie. i will have to try them the way you suggested with marinara sauce. Boca brats: i used to love these.... haven't had them in a long time though. Boca Spicy Chink'n Patties: i have only had the regular. i will certainly try the spicy version soon. Thanks for telling about them. Gardenburger Meatballs: My daughter likes this brand the best of all we've tried so far. Nate's makes a good version, too. i have yet to try a vegetarian meatball that i didn't like when served on spaghetti. Gardenburger brand frozen entrees: i have not yet tried any of them, but i also have seen more items in the stores. Must be a huge market for these sorts of convenience foods. i am glad they are becoming more available. Easy for office workers, college students, and people on the go. So many more options available for us these days. Have you seen any of the Amy's brand items yet? ~ pt ~ Wisdom is the principle thing, therefore get wisdom and with all thy getting, get understanding. ~ " The Bible " ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , Patty <cavy123> wrote: > > > Years ago, I had tried to go veggie/vegan, and all that I could find was the normal veggie burgers. It was hard to make a switch when I was watching others eating all the meat products I was so used to, but I couldn't have an equivalent. I have to say that I am very pleased with the selection of soy products out there in both the Gardenburger and Boca brands. > > I really feel that this is why it's been so easy for me to make the switch this time. When my family (non-veggies) have pulled pork sandwiches, I can have my BBQ riblet sandwich. When my husband picks up sandwiches for the rest of the family from a fast-food place on his way home, he'll call ahead, and I can quickly make one of the spicy chicken patty sandwiches for myself, so we are all able to sit down together and have our meal. > > Happy Eating! :-D > > Pat
Guest guest
I've seen the Amy's brand items, but I haven't tried them yet. Any suggestions on which ones I should try first? I can remember when I would have to drive to a specialty or " health food " market here in the Atlanta area to find soy products. Of course, that was years ago. Now, our normal grocery stores carry them! Have you tried the Linda McCartney entrees? They look delicious on the box, but I'm not sure how good they are. Guest guest
Amy's brand [1]http://www.amyskitchen.com/ is great for veggie foods. (Their factory is close by here, and I like their story that might be why I like the foods!) Anyway, I love the lasagna, the bowls, and I feed my toddler tons of the soups. And, I must say that the no-chicken noodle soup is GREAT for a hangover (I discovered this in college!), I like to crumble some baked corn chips over it! Yum! Also, they make excellent pizzas. And Pot Pies. Downside: They are EXPENSIVE. But, worth it if you can afford it! Guest guest
We like the Linda McCartney frozen meals, but only get them as a treat. They tend to be high-end. --- Patty <cavy123 wrote: > I've seen the Amy's brand items, but I haven't tried > them yet. Any suggestions on which ones I should > try first?
