Guest guest
Wow, you get to celebrate your b-day once in a while on Thanksgiving? That is pretty cool. Will this Thanksgiving be one of those b-day days? Will it be your first as a vegetarian? i always go to a friend's house for a big gathering for Thanksgiving. We all get assigned dishes to prepare. Since i am the only vegetarian, i always bring an interesting veggie dish; the hostess used to assign me a boring green salad, but she has since learned i can cook well, so she trusts me with more interesting ideas. i get requests for this dish called Sweet Onion Corn Bake. The best part of the Thanksgiving meal is that most everything on the table, aside from the bird carcass, is vegetarian. As long as you can make sure folks don't pour chicken broth in the mashed potatoes etc. *lol* i always have a full plate of delicious food that day, and i don't get all stuffed or sleepy from the tryptophan [sp] in the turkey. ~ pt ~ Do not lengthen the quarrel while there is an opportunity of escaping. ~ Latin Proverb ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> replying to this digest post: Angela <angelaamy2001 Re: New week ~ new QOTW Which holiday is your absolute favorite? Do you do anything special or make a signature dish that family and friends expect and look forward to? not sense going veggie!! No, been veggie since early to mid-'80's. actually was born veggie, hated meat as a kid, forced to eat it ( they didn't know any better ) learned to like it, and then in my late 20's - early 30's it started making me sick . Now the look and smell make me nauseous - I avoid that section of the supermarket and use lots of incense and scented candles when the neighbors bar- b- q. even with ac the smell gets in - yuck! I'm really ambivilent about Thanksgiving - thankful for a lot but tend to agree with native american friends who see it as a celebration of the start of the white mans abuse/theft of land, etc. peace, Angela who I am is fine, it's just this body that's disabled!
