Guest guest
hi denise, i'm not so sure you will be able to find flax seed oil capsules that don't have gelatin. luckily, liquid flax seed oil is available in bottles and most health food stores should carry them, in the refridgerated section. don't buy flax seed oil that isn't kept cold and make sure to store it in the fridge. remember to not heat flax seed oil or it will loose it's beneficial properties. also, try to get a cold-pressed flax seed oil. you can mix the flax seed oil (it has a mildly nutty flavor) in your drinks, dress salads with it, flavor veggies with it, pour over cereal, or dip bread in it (maybe flavored with a little garlic and seasonings). you can also use flax seeds to get your omega 3's. grind the whole seed in a coffee grinder or blender right before you use them. they are great sprinkled over cereal, blended into smoothies, mixed into yogurt, etc..... i don't have personal experience buying flax seed oil online (i do like vitaminshoppe.com for supplements, but don't know if they would keep the oil cold for shipment) so i can't really help you there. my suggestion is to check with your local health food store and if they don't carry the bottles of flax seed oil, ask them to special order it for you. most will be more than happy to do this for you. hope this is helpful, susie --- organic_homestead <organic_homestead wrote: > Well, I did some searching through our files and > past messages (ugh!) > and couldn't find the past discussion for on-line > vitamins. > > My midwife wants me to start taking Omega-3's. Guest guest
thanks for this wealth of info, Susie. I have seen the flax oil sold in my grocery store; but that won't work for the amount that I need to take. I have seen vegetarian Omega-3 tabs, they are made with sea plant material instead of fish. I suppose I could try those. I'll check out the website you sent.
