You are brave! I don't like doing that... I would have been utterly HEATED to

spend $30 and it be crappy! Heck, I don't like spending $3!! LOL Only when I

feel brave do I " splurge " on un known foods LOL. Of course we all know I rather

have someoen who knows what she/he is doing to cook it and let me taste it THEN

For me to attempt to make it on my own LOL!

I'm just the oppoite. I want an old favorite recipe someone tosses my way or an

old book with no photos. It's like an art, I want to get in the kitchen and

work with a sink full of ingredients and see how it turns out. Yes, some have

ended up a very ugly disaster...LOL I will never ever forget some recipe for a

Chinese roasted chestnut soup with $30 worth of ingredients that I had to go

find in 4 different stores. I was intriged with the sound of the recipe. It

was the worst color , like gutter water and I got up enough courage to taste it.

The taste was even worse................LOL Donna

Photos always help me. Visual learner and all! If a cookbook doesn't have

pictures for EVERY recipe.. I won't buy it! Truly!

I 'll have to try this sometime.

ARGH! I totally understand that. I made a capers pasta

thingy once...it looked good in the photo. Tasted like

death. Those little buggers aren't cheap either. I

think I spent around $30 on the ingredients too. Man

did that make me mad.

I feel your pain! When food experiments taste bad-- it takes me a while to get

up the nerve to try something else. I haven't done any radically new dish since

I made that brown rice and it was HORRIBLE! YUCK. I experimented yestearday

with soy " chicken " strips, salsa, spring mix salad, and mozzerella cheese

(yummy) but that is all stuff I knew was good alone .. so I tried it in a

tortilla! Not guts need there LOL!
