Guest guest
Aaawww Jane, I didn't mean to make you cry but I know it is very touching. Believe it or not, your sons will also love your recipes. My older nephew calls me from out of state quite often to asks me for a recipe because he and his wife tried to make a dish like I always made but theirs just didn't come out right. I'm going to see if I have time this year to make up a book for his wife. I have emailed her many recipes over the last few years they married but a book is just so special. My Mom is now 81 yrs old and her health isn't good so I have fixed her recipe book up and I posted a few of her fail-proof recipes to the group. When I fixed her book up it made me cry. Does your Mom have recipes jotted down? I have really had to decifer Mom's since she writes so teeny but I was able to do it. They are good tears though, aren't they? I still have some very good crockpot recipes for you. I have Labor Day week off so get ready, I'll be posting recipes in bulk..LOL Sending you bunches of smiles! (I must be on the edge this morning!: ) What a wonderful way to pass on your recipes and love to your children and others. Jenni, keep making those recipe notebooks and notes from the children. I think I'll start taking pictures also, great idea! Donna, I love that your niece has a little piece of you and she feels so comforted by your cooking. I'll remember these ideas for others. My 2 sons are grown and I wish I'd done something similar, although, maybe boys don't care as much about the " process " as the actual eating. LOL! My mother wasn't very affectionate but, oh, how we loved to cook together! Some of my fondest memories! We should have done something along the line of saving all those experiences before it became too late. She's 90 now, and very active, however; she doesn't remember most of the recipes. Guest guest
Thank you Donna, I will ask Mom what happened to recipes she jotted down. (She lives in NH, I in Va, so I can't just go looking, can I?) I bet I can make a recipe book also! I'm looking forward to any crockpot recipes when you have time. Tomorrow I'm trying the " Ratatouille in the Crockpot " recipe. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to pot stuff in the crockpot....Yikes! Guest guest
Jane you will be shocked at what your Mom really does remember from the past experiences in the kitchen and her old standby recipes. My Mom is having a hard time finding the front porch or understanding which bedroom is hers but I can ask her how much soy ilk goes into the frosting with powdered sugar an she will tell me not only that but how much vanilla, etc. and how long it takes to harden. When you read a magazine and see little quotes or a funny picture cut it out to fill in the blank areas in your book when you are ready to make it. If you take one magazine you will be shocked how many little tips and things you will find. It's a good little project for a day you are under the weather or it's pouring rain outside. It's also amazing how many old lost recipes you will run across that you have stuck here and there and new ideas you will have for a good meal. My sister brought me two giant shopping bags of recipes and a blank book and I put her together also but I didn't bother with quotes, etc. that was a BIG mess on it's owm, she had dried food stuck to everything...LOL Donna Jane <twoslim wrote: Thank you Donna, I will ask Mom what happened to recipes she jotted down.
