Guest guest
Welcome in Helene, Now that is one great recipe but I'll tell you trying to find a green tomato in LA is next to impossible. I have a produce guy at Whole Foods that will save one for me if and when he can find it. I would love to fry one up with your batter in peanut oil. I have my fingers crossed I can come across a green tomato one day soon........Smiles! And just a few hours ago, we harvested our first batch of green peppers and concord grapes--The entire house smells like Manischewitz By the way, I'm new here--my name is Helene and I'm a stay-at-home mother of 3 ages, 13, 9 and 3--my husband Peter is a special education teacher and newly ordained Anglican priest, and we've been married 14 years--we live in NJ. Hobbies include, but are not limited to, reading, writing, music, and gardening. I've been a vegetarian/vegan since 1987--my family are nowhere as diligent as I am, but the best I can do is set a good example. Looking forward to participating in any and all discussion as much as time allows. Blessings, Helene

Donna Hi Donna, and thanks for the warm welcome-- Ya know, I hear that alot from friends on the West Coast--how difficult it is to obtain certain produce we here in the Garden State/Mid-Atlantic region take for granted-In fact, I'd be more than happy to send you a batch, but they'd probably ripen before they got there--lol. Oh, yuck---apologies for the sudden pained expression on my face: hubby is watching TV and that wretched, " eat-steak, eat-steak, eat a big 'ole steer " Boston Market commercial just came on and it's making me gag--why PETA hasn't gotten that pulled yet is beyond me-- Blessings, Helene
Guest guest
Actually, when I lived in Portland, OR I always had plenty of green tomatoes, it seemed to never fail to get cold before all the tomatoes could ripen!
