Hi Shawn, pan fry first and let them sit for a little while to set. They won't

stick to the grill this way since they will be firm from frying them first. Now

before you toss on the grill you can lightly brush a little olive oil on them.

well. I was trying to consider though on whether to pan fry them and

then smoke them on the grill over the coals for a bit or just go ahead

Black Bean Burgers

 

2 (15 oz) cans of black beans, rinsed and drained

1 small onion finely chopped

2/3 cup breadcrumbs

1 clove garlic minced

1 tbslp fresh cilantro or basil (your choice) finely chopped

1 tsp. ground cumin

2 eggs (I use 2 egg whites) beaten

1 sm. jalapeno pepper minced (optional)

salt and pepper

 

 

Place beans in bowl and mash with a fork. Add remaining ingredients

and mix well.

Shape into 6 patties and fry in a little oil on medium heat a few

minutes on each side.
