Heya Donna (and/or anyone with this type of experience). I was

thinking about grilling these over charcoal this weekend (NFL baby!).

You state that you use two eggs so I think that will bind them pretty

well. I was trying to consider though on whether to pan fry them and

then smoke them on the grill over the coals for a bit or just go ahead

and grill them straight up from scratch. Anyone anyone?? Bueller..

Thanks. :)

Black Bean Burgers

2 (15 oz) cans of black beans, rinsed and drained

1 small onion finely chopped

2/3 cup breadcrumbs

1 clove garlic minced

1 tbslp fresh cilantro or basil (your choice) finely chopped

1 tsp. ground cumin

2 eggs (I use 2 egg whites) beaten

1 sm. jalapeno pepper minced (optional)

salt and pepper

Place beans in bowl and mash with a fork. Add remaining ingredients

and mix well.

Shape into 6 patties and fry in a little oil on medium heat a few

minutes on each side.

yum..these sound good...we usually stick to veggies/tofu on the grill,

the homemade burgers tend to fall thru. I'm gonna try these on Sunday

(pan fried) too!!

thanks

I have a bulk bag of nature burger mix. I was going to put that together (i

think it just calls for water) too and see what the consistency is like in

order to determine whether it's grillable or not. Have you tried any of

those types of mixes on the grill?

Mel, there are these great grill pans (I'm going to get one when I get a

bigger grill) that you place directly on the rack. It's basically a pan that

has small wholes on the bottom. I think this would work for the nature

burger mixes and of course would work perfectly for grilling a big mixture

of veggies and tofu without having to skewer them.
