According to my research, everyday exposure to and consumption of caffeine, including coffee, tea, cola, and also chocolate upset our body's ability to stay hydrated. Statistics show that more than 80% of the population consumes caffeine on a regular basis. Drinking water everyday is important, especially in this heat! We fool ourselves that we are drinking enough water, because we have changed the effects of that water by adding caffeine! Athletes are advised by dieticians and coaches to avoid caffeinated beverages, even " sports energy drinks, " in favour of water. Good advice! Studies have found that there is an increase in urine production following caffeine ingestion, which causes a further loss of fluids! Even a regular caffeine consumption, a few cups, will lead to tolerance, then craving more. Then a larger amount of caffeine would be desired, causing nervousness and headaches without.
