That is kinda what I thought too but I wanted to ask out of curiousity.

Thought " Penelope " would be an intersting last name if it were so.

I was just speculating though, David, what's the real deal?

 

my last name is Dorval, and it is Canadian French. If you could see me, I am

very very light toned, in the summer my Italian friend calls me Casper, LOL, and

I have blonde hair really, but it's red now, tee hee, but anyway, my sister

swears that when she was little my grandma showed her a pic of a great aunt on

my grandpops side who was a black woman, and very dark.

My mother said my sister is nuts. Even though that is not far from the truth, ar

ar ar, I was googling my name not too long ago and found another Maria Dorval

(my real birth name) who was listed as staff of a public school in California

someplace as a janitor. I emailed the webmaster and just said how it was really

something to see someone else with my very same exact name, and if my number or

email could be given to this Maria DOrval.

Well a few days later I got this call from a woman asking for Maria Dorval, I

said, " this is she, who is this? " and she said, " it's Maria Dorval. " in a very

broken English. She was a pleasure to talk to, she is from Haiti, and she says

Canada and Haiti are very tied as many Haitians had settled there and also

French in Haiti.

HOW BOUT DAT.

So it is very likely that sis is not imagining the pic she saw.

I am also part native American but again you would never know it to look at me.
