Guest guest
Oh my this sounds really good. And guess what...I found tahini at my grocery store! They had with all the pickle things...go figure. It was so expensive (over $5) but I got it anyway. It'll last us a while. I need to go to the store and get garlic, so I'll pick up some avocados, too. Mmm, I'll make this and serve it with the left over falafel tonight. , GeminiDragon <thelilacflower> wrote: > > AVOCADO HUMMUS > 1 15-oz. can garbanzo beans, drained, liquid reserved > 1/4 C. tahini > 1/2 medium or 1/2 large avocado > 3 T. + 1 tsp. lemon juice > garbanzo liquid > 1/2 tsp. salt > Dash paprika > Combine all the ingredients, except the paprika, in a food processor and process until the consistency is smooth and creamy. Spoon the hummus into a serving bowl and garnish with a dash of paprika. Serve with fresh or toasted whole-wheat pita wedges, rye or whole grain crackers, or toasted whole grain bread cut into quarters. Serves 4 to 5. Tahini with the pickles?? The one regular store I find marmite in puts it with the baking powder, cracks me up! I've been making hummus this summer with out the tahini, my doc is concerned that my daughter may have nut allergies & for the time being we are not giving her any (though she got walnuts in bread pudding on our recent trip & was fine...two weeks of eating out, I'm so glad to be back in the kitchen...didn't ever think I'd say that!!). It is not quite the same, but is pretty good nonetheless. Just a thought in a pinch! m
