Guest guest
When i was out shopping yesterday i found some bottles of avocado oil for a really good price so even though i didnt have clue what to use it for, i bought it. *lol* When i got home i had my dh check the www for uses in cooking, health info, etc. Sounds like wonderful stuff, and it is has no cholesterol~ which he has to start watching now. It claims you can use it just like you would use olive oil. Do any of you use this? What do you think of it? How does it compare to canola or olive oil? Any thoughts or recipes that include it are welcome. :::smiles and coffeemug salute::: ~ pt ~ They bound themselves by the sun and moon that the possession of the Pictish kingdom... should be held by right of the female rather than that of the male progeny to the end of the world. ~ Geoffrey Keating, 'Forus Feasa ar Eirinn'
Guest guest
I've used avocado oil and walnut oil for years. Mostly on salads or I saute veggies and pasta and make a pasta dish with them. I just like the taste, YummmmmmmmY Donna ~ PT ~ <patchouli_troll wrote:When i was out shopping yesterday i found some bottles of avocado oil for a really good price so even though i didnt have clue what to use it for, i bought it. *lol* When i got home i had my dh check the www for uses in cooking, health info, etc. Sounds like wonderful stuff, and it is has no cholesterol~ which he has to start watching now. Guest guest
Although I don't currently use it, I have heard many good things about it. In fact, the latest studies say that the only oils that should be used are nut/seed oils or canola oil. However, like olive oil, you don't want to use the avocado oil at high heat. Instead use it for dressings, marinades or as a light topping on pasta. For high heat, such as deep frying, sauteeing and stir fry use canola oil or peanut oil.
