Will you always be on the black list???? Donna Yep, until they are able to " test " people, they can't take any chances. It's such a shame, because with such a shortage of blood supply, they only make the " no " list longer and I don't feel like they're doing anything to fix that. I commend you, too, for trying. Hey I'm not rock solid. I turn my head and close my eyes when they insert the needle. Also squeezing the ball and concentrating on my breathing helps. But, then once it's in, I am fine. I had tried so many times and got turned down for low iron count that I made it a goal to never get turned down again; until they changed the rules. :-( And I have to say that it really depends on the nurse who is working on you. I had one guy who couldn't find my vein and tried both arms. Finally I asked him to get someone else! Oh, he was terrible!
