They need to get on the ball and update those old rules. 6 donors are quite a few. Out of the 50 people at my job they only got 23 units of blood. It's a very new rule due to the mad cow problem in England. At first they said you had to wait 10 years, because it took that long to show up in a person, then they extended that to a wait of 20 years and now there is no cut-off time. Of course, to me this rule is bogus, because there are some studies that have linked Jacob Kruetzfeld disease and alzheimers to BSE. So there could be " carriers " in the US still donating blood! YIKES! well, one of my reasons to not get a tattoo was because I'd have to wait over a year to donate blood. Now I don't have a reason!
